With the historic re-pairing of Slayer and Megadeth for the 26-date American Carnage co-headline tour set to kick off January 18 in Seattle, WA, Twenty-Ten will see yet another killer concert line-up when Slayer joins forces with the cream of the crop in metal for a run of European festival dates kicking off on June 16 in Warsaw, Poland. Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax, and Mastodon will share the stage for the launch of Sonisphere 2010, which established itself as "Best New Festival" at the 2009 UK Festival Awards in recognition of its series of uber-successful European festivals this past summer.

Slayer has also been confirmed for the Sonisphere Festival Knebworth, a three-day event kicking off July 30 at Knebworth in the UK which will feature Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Anthrax, The Cult, and many others. Slayer is set to perform on Sunday, August 1.

These two Sonisphere Festival dates will mark the first time that Slayer - guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo - has played the European festival circuit since 2007, and more Slayer European festival dates will be announced in the coming weeks. Slayer will play European festivals in support of the band's 10th studio album, World Painted Blood, already heralded as one of the their best. World Painted Blood was a Top 10 debut in numerous countries including Germany, Australia, Japan, and Canada, and debuted at #12 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart. Since its November 2 release, the album still sits at #1 on all of the major metals radio charts, and if that isn't enough, the track "Hate Worldwide" was just nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Metal Performance.

More European festival dates will be announced tomorrow, Thursday, so log onto for those details - and log on frequently for more updates.
