The mighty Slayer has confirmed a release date for the band's 10th studio album: World Painted Blood will be released on Monday 2nd November. In addition, Slayer has revealed the complete and correct track listing for the album that can be found on the band's newly-designed, just-launched website: www.slayer.net

"As we're so excited about World Painted Blood," said the band's Dave Lombardo, "we wanted to do something special for the packaging, and have been working with some really cool ideas. They've taken time to get just right, and with our headlining the Mayhem tour for most of the summer, it's just taken that much longer to get all these great ideas exactly the way we want them."

There will be three different editions of World Painted Blood - a limited edition CD with multiple CD covers, a deluxe edition CD/DVD, and a high-quality, 180-gram vinyl edition; specifics for all editions will be detailed shortly.

"We hope our fans will like everything about World Painted Blood as much as we do," Lombardo continued. "Recording this new album has been one of the greatest experiences we've had as a band. We were together during the writing process more than we had been for past albums, we worked more collectively, everyone's suggestions and ideas were heard and considered, and that camaraderie is definitely heard in the new album.

I was soo excited i was ready to jump in that pit and RAISE HELL!! At that point i still had blood on my shirt from Anthrax and my nose was close to being broken. We heard the beat and i`d wondered where the pit was and asked `` Wheres the pit brent?`` He said that it doesnt start right away and I noticed the everybody split to to sides. I ...

  • I saw Slayer in 2009, on the Mayhem festival. It started out with me & my guitarist at the time. We were to save up money to get seat tickets a few months before the show in West Palm Beach Florida. Well the night before the concert he tells me after we get done jamming out that he can't make the show. So I demand my money back from him..(i gave him money to stash so i didn't spend it) He tells me "it's at the bank". I offer a ride to get money, he refuses. He promises to have it the ...

I have seen Slayer 11 times, and I would consider myself a diehard fan. I'm 49 years old, and have been listening to then for the better part of my life. I have turned my 15 year old son onto them, and have taken him to 2 shows,...he loves it! At the last show we saw them was in Portland Oregon on the "Hell on earth" tour with Zombie and Exodus. Now you guys may not want to read this, but I'm not real good at sugar coating things,...so I'll just put it out there; Slayer was so fucking ...

I've seen slayer live seven times with my most recent one being with exodus and rob zombie. I wasn't disappointed at all even though Jeff Hanneman wasn't playing I still had a blast. My friends that had never been to a slayer show are now hooked and are ready to go again next summer. Hope you get well Jeff and I hope to see you again sometime next summer. Horns up!!!

the first time I saw slayer, was too excited because I had never seen before and was anciosa that the day of the concert came but a little nervous. had to travel to london to see and buy my ticket well in advance, so I wanted to make the time pass quickly for it to arrive the day. I only asked a question: why on Sunday?, and the truth a concert on Sunday is not good without alcohol (haha: P). but hey the band played very well, never forget that day and would like to see them again .... ...

i want it now. but im poor so cant
lol

I want all the different & i don' t want to wait more.

I think its fair to say we all want the 4 different covers and the deluxe version, so why isn't somebody doing a package where you can order all 4 covers together to make sure you get them? I would definately order it. I love collecting Slayer merch...and I'm sure there's millions of us that do.....

How much longer? It's like waiting for the school holidays when you were a kid!!!!..........

It is finally here. And it was worth the wait. It's not just my excitement speaking but I trully believe this is they're best album to date. It has a bit of everything and more besides. I'll say no more at the moment as you will all have your own copies soon enough and we'll all exchange views then. As it is I'm wasting valuable listening time writing this....ha ha ....

Wow. What an album. Get's better with every listen.....

all slayer fans...check out the underground king of deathrap! NECRO new album DIE! in stores Feb 2010...cop one or DIE!

When are the other covers going to be released ?
Having just 1 of the 4 covers is fucking torture.

World Painted Blood.

When I first heard Psychopathy Red I got it into my head that the entire album would be that angry when it finally got released......how wrong was I.

The album to me is like a creature that changes it shape but in a savage evil twisted way.
World Painted Blood as track 1 gives a false sense of security with its intro but then it punches you in the fucking head leaving the listener (me) almost dazed, the next 3 tracks just leaves you reeling......then another knock out punch with Hate Worldwide and if that's not enough to keep you focused you get a massive punch in the guts with Public Display of Dismemberment.
By now I was thinking that this is enough punishment for any self respecting metal head then Human Strain is without a shadow of a doubt the track that will floor you and leave you speechless wondering "what the fuck have I done to myself this time" or more to the point what the fuck have Slayer done to me this time.
Americon bursts into life and sets your mind up for the onslaught that is Psychopathy Red, Playing with Dolls is the difference maker and the title almost leads you to believe that it will be a nice mellow track......like fuck it is, onto the final act of violence that is Not of this God.

After hearing the album for the first time I was totally shocked thinking Slayer had gone through some form of metal transformation and I remember feeling that this new album would put a lot of critics in their place, after the 18th time of hearing it (in the first day) I felt proud that buying a copy of Show No Mercy (on picture disc) in 1984 would lead me here to 2009 where I am stunned by the recording quality, the creative edge and the brutality that World Painted Blood presents us with.

Thank you Slayer.

A couple of months later and WPB still sounds as good as the first time I heard it. I still think it's Slayers finest album and I firmly believe it will stand the test of time like RIB has. OK it's not genre defining or as cutting edge as RIB was in 1986 but nothing ever will be again will it? I don't think Slayer could have done anything to make it any better (other than maybe giving it to us for free!!!) and I can't wait to see the live show when they reach us here in the u.k.
