I am a fan because Tom Araya is virtualy among the very few friends I have ever had not calculating all the class mates and neighbours.I first listened pieces from his first albums and I start feeling him a friend through his voice as I usually dislike the very popular disco and pop public songs.I think Slayer is the most pleasant and positive heavy metal band I have ever heard of in my musical good taste despite his negative poetical lyrics.
