Can't believe it. Still hasn't sunk in properly. Absolutely gutted by this. Obviously our thoughts are with his family and close friends but the thought of never seeing this band with Jeff perform together again is agonising. I hope the band goes on but fear this may be the end. As good as Gary Holt has been with Slayer, Jeff is irreplaceable........

I was really shocked
Thought Jeff was better ....

So close to his family and bandmates

Was also devastated by the news, Been a fan since reign in blood! This really sucks bad. Peace, Chuck

I should not say but the only thing I can do is ..... Crying and as if I had lost a brother that I have passed nearly 30 years I listened to Jeff ..... Farewell my friend

Rest in peace Jeff, you will live on through your music and my guitar strings.

I have myself the defect of being always honest, I can't naturally think a lie.Being very new with the band I saw once some covers thinking doesn't matter any and than because of lack of patience some live intrviews of master Jeff the image changing in the stone original american, a strong root of the reals with all the fantesies, I knew him only for 5 minutes but was becoming already a cousin mine, I mean he's a metal singer and composer but a true artist and such a good man, he has even my soft hair.I don't think very clear fast some superficial things but because of naturally flexible emotions I felt a sudden sadness to recover fast my usual warm thinking, although still remembering from time to time the friendly blonde guy speacking I just have just returning the same sadness unwillingly from a strong law of all the natural things.I'm sorry Jeff just thinking for the second time is possible to be a true news.

jeff

Been huge fan since the first mement listening back in 85. From 15 year old long haired kid to balding 41 yr old father, Slayer has been a big part of all the good times and bad I've had. Rarely has a day gone by my Walkman, stereo, mpg, iPod, iPhone hasn't cranked out some Slayer for me. Thanks guys for everything you've added to my life as Slayer and a great big RIP to Jeff.

My own personal Eulogy to Jeff using every single Slayer song ever written!!!

The recent passing of Jeff Hanneman is living proof that Evil Has No Boundaries. His untimely Fight Till Death was ultimately won by the Captor of Sin, as he was forced to Face the Slayer, which in turn led him to meet his Angel of Death at the Altar of Sacrifice where he will continue Haunting the Chapel for eternity. Jeff lived his life as an Aggressive Perfector whose Circle of Beliefs as a Disciple of Violent Pacification was to Read Between the Lies of Fictional Reality and Deviance such as: Black Magic , Temptation, Serenity In Murder , Chemical Warfare, Verbal Abuse, Leeches, Mandatory Suicide, Sex, Murder, Art, Public Display of Dismemberment and Drunk Drivers Against Mad Mothers in an effort to Abolish Government and Superficial Love.
Jeff’s Desire, In the Name of God, was to save the Expendable Youth, from the Dead Skin Mask of a Hallowed Point in becoming a Ghost of War in the Killing Fields where the War Zone is a Catalyst in the Eyes of the Insane, Jihad, Cult and Supremist. This War Ensemble will Show No Mercy towards the Skeletons of Society, or Crypts of Eternity in an effort to find Beauty Through Order. Bitter Peace is a Stain of Mind in the Scrum of the Overt Enemy in the Perversions of Pain to force the Human Strain of the Americon society to become Scarstruck and live in Catatonic Confearcy.
In a World Painted Blood, Spiritual Law cannot free a Tormentor from The Final Command of The Antichrist to Cast Down a Wicked Silent Scream to Spill the Blood in order to Cleanse the Soul of a Criminally Insane Necrophiliac who is hiding Behind the Crooked Cross. Richard Hung Himself in the Spirit of Black that Crionics would allow this Sick Boy to Kill Again as Payback to the Disciple of Mr. Freeze to Snuff out Hate Worldwide. Mind Control of the SS 3 and the Seven Faces of Unit 731 made this Gemini, whose only crime was Guilty of Being White see Blood Red. His Bloodline is Not of This God as he was Born of Fire and he has become an Addict of the Black Serenade. At Dawn They Sleep, as he screams Here Comes the Pain upon the Final Six, then he reigns down a Flesh Storm of Postmortem with unbridled Psychopathy Red causing Hardening of the Arteries and bringing them to the Threshold of pain before cutting them Piece By Piece as they are Raining Blood. God Send Death they plead as they ultimately Die By The Sword and he retorts I don’t Want To Hear It. I Hate You and Can’t Stand You comes Screaming From the Sky as Necrophobic tendencies take over in a dark scene similar to Playing with Dolls as he whispers demonically I’m Gonna Be Your God. Memories of Tomorrow quickly fade as Death’s Head rises in Epidemic proportions causing an Exile in New Faith to the Point of the Skeleton Christ conceding his Praise of Death.
Jeff’s Unguarded Instinct and Love to Hate through the Darkness of Christ has assured him many Seasons in the Abyss. Hell Awaits Jeff as he is Reborn South of Heaven and continues to Live Undead through some type of Divine Intervention proving once and for all that Jesus Saves. Rest In Peace Jeff!!

Descanse em Paz Jeff. Seus riffs, sua energia, sua ganancia em tornar a música do Slayer a melhor que já ouvi durante meus 34 anos. Minha formação deve muito à meus pais e ao Slayer!!!!!!!!

i rarely post to any sites or to social media, but this news has affected me in such a way that i felt the need to wrap the metal community around myself while we mourn the loss of jeff hanneman.

back in 1984, a friend needed a place to stash his albums while in between housing, and trusted me with this task. back then, at the tender age of 14, i had little exposure to heavy metal, having just discovered the legendary priest and maiden back catalog. in the pile of my friend's albums lurked Show No Mercy and Hell Awaits. imagine my delight when i unearthed these treasures! at that time, girls didn't listen to hardcore metal...at least not in my little upstate NY town. i made it my business to listen to and learn as much as i could about slayer.

from that day on, i've been a huge slayer fan. when the Reign In Blood tour came around, i knew i had to see these guys live come hell or high water- the tiny club was oversold and despite being one of the few females attending the show, it remains one of my all-time favorite slayer experiences. jeff's lyrics encouraged me to learn more about history than any schoolteacher ever could - many people found slayer's lyrics offensive, but the raw reality is what drew me in and kept me coming back for more.

another favorite memory: during the Clash of the Titans tour in '91, there had been controversy regarding who would headline - slayer or megadeth. in my heart, slayer was the correct choice. unfortunately, we arrived to the outdoor venue a bit late, and as we were passing through the turnstile, I heard the unmistakable growl of "WAR ENSEMBLE!!!!!" and i ran as fast as i could - i wasn't missing slayer, hell no! i fought my way to the front, which at 5 feet and barely 100 pounds was some feat. this particular venue was a mosh pit full of dirt and rocks - perfect for slayer! at the end of slayer's set, i exited the pit battered and bloody, rocks stuck in my arm but i didn't care - i wore it like the badge of honor it was!

as a longtime metal fan, i've seen many bands come and go. slayer has always been there for me, and for those of the world who think heavy metal is nothing but random noise, they've obviously never experienced the virtuosity of jeff and kerry dueling it out onstage - it's a beauty all its own. RIP, jeff. we'll miss you.

I AM A FAN OF SLAYER SİNCE 1993. I AM 37 OLD MAN. JEFF IS MY FAVORITE MUSICAN TILL 20 YEARS. I AM REALLY SO SAD TO HEAR THAT HE S GONE. I ALWAYS DREAM THAT I AM 60 S AND I GONE CONCERT TO WACTH HİM WİTH MY DOUTHER. R İ P JEFF YOU LL BE ALWAYS LIVING IN OUR GOOD MEMORIES. AND I BELEİVE WITH OUT YOU THERE LL BE NO SLAYER SUCH AS BEFORE.
