Tales from the pit
Yesterday I had the most disappointing metal experience in 25 years of being a hardcore Slayer fan. What should have been my 21st Slayer live show, ended up with frustration and disbelief......after the supporting act and 1 minute before Slayer should have climbed the stage, a poor guy (I guess he lost drawing cuts) walked on the stage and tells the exited audience (remember that the show was cancelled twice already) that slayer was not playing because Kerry King was ill and taken to the hospital. The first reaction of the crowd was that it was some kind of a sick joke, but after the poor guy (soaked with beer thrown by the audience) had left the stage, a various range of emotions entered the arena........It is really understandable that people can get sick or have accidents, but the band is more than Kerry King, at least some other member should had the balls to tell the audience the bad news.......I regret to say, (especially after the below average performance on the GMM in Dessel Belgium last June) that it might be time for retirement
............I still respect the best metal band that was always there for their fans and vice versa, but I seriously doubt that I'm going to see another Slayer show.........unfortunately because 25 shows was my personal target........
Maybe a couple of backstage passes on the rearranged show @ 013 in Tilburg could change my mind......

I'm so glad I dod not went to
I'm so glad I dod not went to Tiburg -of all places- to see Slayer. For you none-Dutch: getting there is one thing, but going back home after the gig? If you leave at 2200... you might be lucky. By car would be an option, but then again I like to drink a beer and also I do not smoke and drive, so that was no option either and stayed in Amsterdam with a some dvd's.... not the same, I know. (But hey, I had beer, white widow and heard Slayer
))
Concert 2nd of August
I only hope that the members of Slayer read this aswell and see how badly they treated their fans who have been waiting for almost a year now! But that the concert will be cancelled indefinattely and not even a sorry from the band still hurts!
this is it........
well, now that the total cancellation is definite, I guess I'm stuck at 20 shows in 25 years.......which is not so bad afterall..........Tom, Kerry, Jef and Dave, I wish you all the best and take care of yourselves!!!!!!!

Adelaide, 10/10/2009
Similar thing happened to me. Last year I went to bed the night before fucking pumped to wake up to a text from a mate telling me that Slayer had pulled out and so Megadeth was to do an extended set. Slayer pulled due to Tom's really bad laryngitis. Yeah I was really disappointed since Slayer is one of my all time favourite bands, but at the same time it was pretty bad to hear that Tom lost his voice to such a bad extent...it was to be my first ever Slayer show. Eh shit happens, and now they're coming back to Adelaide next year as part of a festival with Iron Maiden anyway haha, can't wait, and hopefully Slayer comes back to your home town soon!
fingers crossed!!!!!!
hope you enjoy, the 1st time is always special.......for us it will take a while before they come back again.........
Cancellation Tilburg
I sympathize with the fact that Slayer are human and therefore can get sick. However, monday night's gig was cancelled for the THIRD time, first last november, then in february and then last monday. COME ON! By the way, Tom Araya was actually in the venue at the moment, I've seen him walk there myself surrounded by a handfull of bodyguards so apparently he can sing about killings, murder, the devil and whatnot but he doesn't have the balls to tell his fans that they won't play. Another thing that comes to mind is that there must have been enough management people there to plan a new gig immediatly, given the fact that there isn't one announced it will probably remain cancelled forever. In other words: we're F*CKED and they didn't even kiss us.
cancelled
well, the words out it`s cancelled def.
I watched the scedule monday night ans saw there was no space for a gig.
A smal venue like 013 was a great idea to see them from real close.
Now i feel fucked too.
Why didn`t they call a doctor sooner or something.
I wonder what the guys think of the situation. Ans a big sorry for the fans who were at the 013 after traveling and shit and waited almost a year after the first 2 cancellations.
yes, this was it!!!!!
Edwin, this is it..............guess I'm going to return the ticket before the Hatebreed concert and spend the refunds on beer at the Effenaar.................before I enter the pit!!!!!
guess you're right........
I share the same feeling man!!!!!!!!
hi f*cking 5, see you in the pit @ effenaar on 30/8 Hatebreed!!!!!!!!
I was there too. It sucked.
I was there too. It sucked. The beertap was down for a while. There were people who drove 3 hours to see them.
I hope they`ll get a new date, but nowhere near 1 november, cuz my wife is going to have a baby.
Then they should get a good support act or tape/video the show and get the visitors a free download link or whatever.
I know the guys are humans too, They should know that too and therefore they should put more free days in the tour or after a european leg. Then it`s more easily to rescedule a show after illness or whatever.
Hope to see them soon at the 013 in Tilburg.
fingers crossed!!!!!! again......
well Edwin, I hope I'm wrong, but I seriously think that everything will end after the US tour.........I was at GMM in June and believe me, it was with pain in my heart to see the once so mighty Slayer................I was hoping on a recovery at the 013.......but alas........everyone now knows how it ended...............
\m/ but we are still young.......and ready to slam that pit \m/
SHIT HAPPENS!!!
I have been to thousands of shows and have to live with the fact that shows get cancelled,re-scheduled all the time...Here in AZ ,I was at a Cavalera Conspiracy show and the power went out during a monsoon thunderstorm...I also had tix for SLAYER when Tom hurt his neck...People get sick...People get hurt...Thats just Metal!!!
i know
But full of adrenaline, waiting in a small venue. And it`s plugged out. I got the tickets for over a year because the first 2 rescedules.
They are human, i know. They`re older. And getting older. They should know that themselves and get more rest between shows. Get a week off after a european leg, so they can do a canceled show. They are pro`s.
When King felt sick he should`ve called a doctor right away i guess.
The least they can do is say sorry for all the people who were there. Or give em a ittle gift.
Cuz now we`ll have to wait at least a year. Probably they won`t do a small venue. And if they do i hope to get some tickets and a god date.
The whole history of the cancelled gig and the future of a next gig is a great disapointment.
yes, it's all about metal.......but also respect to the fans....
I hear what you are saying, but as long as I can remember, Slayer only cancelled once in my area......and that was when they could not leave the USA after 9/11, luckely the tickets were still valid for their next gig in Holland and it was a great show...... don't get me wrong, I am also strugling with the clock ticking onwards, but hell, I am still in that crazy pit as long as they play........even when I know I will regret it the day after ........ and that's metal!!!!
Let me tell you that I was at the 1st Slayer concert in Europe, at the Heavy sounds festival in Poperinge (B) in 1985 as a 14 year old with a big brother of a friend.............after that show............there was only 1 band in the world!!!!!
..and it f*cking hurts to see the biggest band ever fade away......... \m/ \m/
