Re: Barrowland

Been a while since I last saw Slayer live - the Seasons In The Abyss tour - and was really looking forward to seeing them again. I was not disappointed. They played a tight set with a great selection of songs including all my favourite songs old and new. If they had asked me to write the set list this would have been it. Sure, some classics were missing but to do all the great Slayer songs would take an all-day gig.

The band looked fit and energetic and played like only they can from start to finish, with the bare minimum of theatricality and complete focus on the music. There was one very brief hiccup when Tom was hit in the teeth by his mike stand (knocked by a thrown T-shirt) but he quickly checked that his teeth were still there and just got on with the song. The sound was as good as could be expected given the venue's less than ideal acoustics (it's a 1930s ballroom) and the challenge of getting music this extreme and intense to sound good even in the best circumstances.

Awesome; 20 years since the last time and Slayer are still reigning!
